Started in 2001, the Dot NAME extension is the sole TLD meant for personal sites only. These domains can be personal or fictional names, nicknames and/or other designations people are known by. At the beginning, just 3rd-level registrations were allowed, so if you planned to purchase john.doe.name, you were supposed to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration procedures were liberalized and second-level registrations were also permitted. Existing third-level names remained functional.

You will have the opportunity to correct the WHOIS contact info, to park your domain, to modify Custom DNS records, etc. You can also transfer an already purchased domain to our company if you receive its EPP transfer authorization code from the present registrar firm and we will renew it as soon as the transfer has been finished. There are no specific regulations on who can obtain a .NAME domain name, but in order to keep the idea behind its establishment alive, the .NAME Registry may verify who the owner is and if there is no connection between the owner and the actual domain, the registration can be challenged.
